Redemption Eph. INTRO.: the story of Israel’s deliverance from Egyptian bondage is the first redemption story in the Bible. The word "redeem" is first mentioned in Exodus Israel had been in Egypt nearly years after being invited to live there by the Pharaoh of Joseph’s : Charles Salmon.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Paul is saying that our redemption and forgiveness are "in accordance with" (kata 4), or "to the extent of" the wealth, riches, or abundance (ploutos 5) of God's favor.

In other words, our redemption is not barely enough, but plenteous. Our forgiveness is not scarcely, but abundantly given. Some of the sermons on Ephesians also contain MP3 Audio files. Click here for sermons on other books of the Bible.

These are based on the approach to preaching outlined by Haddon W. Robinson in his book Biblical Preaching The following sermon is going to examine Ephesians and in doing so show how knowing the works of the Holy Spirit is the key to knowing beyond a doubt that we are saved and are eternally safe in the hands of our Father.

Again, Paul begins with that favorite term of his, “in Him.” This blessing of salvation. I have heard a lot of sermons on Ephesians that disconnect the message of individual passages of Ephesians from this bigger picture, which is ironic because Paul begins with the big picture in Ephesians which overshadows the rest of the letter.

Without this perspective, we miss what the book of Ephesians was designed to accomplish. Look at the Book. Interactive Bible study with John Piper.

It is clear that this redemption is in Christ Jesus, the price was His blood (Eph. ; Col. ) and it is eternal so we can serve the living God (Heb.14).

Here is where this concept hits home to the normal everyday life—the debt that was paid was due to sin, the result can only mean complete forgiveness for sin.

Redemption Is Through Christ’s Death Ephesians teaches us that a Christian has been redeemed by Christ through His blood, that is, His death.

This is an important biblical truth that is not always understood. The message is that every Christian has been bought back by the blood of Christ.

A Simple Bible Study Resource Key Passage: Ephesians Ephesians – “ to the praise of the glory of His grace which He graciously bestowed on us in the Beloved.”. The Problem: Sin. But that is different than saying God’s primary motivation for redemption is forgiveness .
